Neurodegenerative Disease Models
– Human iPSC models of neurodegenerative diseases
Bioneer has over 100 publications in CNS research, including collaborations with Lundbeck and Johnson & Johnson.
Neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease are driven by complex, cell-type–specific mechanisms involving protein aggregation, neuroinflammation, and synaptic dysfunction. Capturing this complexity in vitro is critical for identifying therapies with true translational potential.
At Bioneer, we build human iPSC-based models that mirror key pathological features of Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease.
Using advanced differentiation protocols, we generate disease-relevant neurons, astrocytes, and microglia, and combine them with precise gene editing to model patient-specific or engineered disease variants.

Our platform enables mechanistic and phenotypic drug testing in assays based on α-synuclein, Amyloid beta and Tau supported by high-content imaging, electrophysiology, and molecular readouts.
Together, this allows our partners to move beyond simplified models and interrogate neurodegeneration in a human cellular, functional relevant system.
