Protein chemist/project manager for protein development and manufacturing

We are looking for a protein chemist in the area of recombinant protein development and manufacturing with hands-on experience in downstream processing and knowledge of upstream processing, who can take protein projects from an R&D stage to a manufacturing stage for our customers and partners.

Our Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) provides small scale but high-end process development and GMP manufacturing services in the specialty protein/enzyme area. The CDMO works closely together with the Recombinant Protein group in the CRO when developing, implementing, or trouble shooting new manufacturing processes.
Our Contract Research Organization (CRO) provides R&D based services within the biomedical and biotechnology field. Services include end-to-end recombinant protein solutions from feasibility to non-GMP production and early drug candidate development, characterization and formulation.
About the protein chemist/project manager position
You will be working in our CDMO group of approx. 15 employees located in Hørsholm.
You will be part of one or more cross-functional project teams and collaborate with other specialists at Bioneer. Furthermore, you will collaborate with customers and consultants during development of robust protein manufacturing strategies.
Being part of a mid-sized company, you thrive taking on versatile responsibilities and tasks. We expect that you have the ability to technically supervise skilled personnel at the level needed for establishing and operating downstream processes in order to secure high quality proteins including process enzymes and early-stage versions of API’s.
We furthermore expect that you can assist in the preparation of the documentation needed for GMP manufacturing, approval of products, and transfer of the manufacturing processes to larger external manufacturing entities.
You are also expected to participate in maintenance and commissioning of equipment, participate in audits, and troubleshoot manufacturing issues.
About you
- You have a relevant life science education at M.Sc. or Ph.D. level within e.g. protein chemistry or process technology and preferably have at least 3 to 5 years of experience from relevant life science industry. You are a responsible, flexible, highly motivated team player with commitment, initiative, and humour.
Our preferred candidate has:
- Documented experience with downstream manufacturing processes
- Documented experience in protein purification preferably with different types of proteins
- Documented ability to design, develop and qualify a robust protein purification process.
- Experience with Quality by design and preparation of manufacturing documentation
- A quality mindset
- Ability to lead, plan, execute, and report projects
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and writing skills
- Ability to lead and motivate technicians and fellow scientists.
