Protein chemist for downstream process development

The position is in the Department for Protein Production reporting to the Head of Department. The department has extensive experience in both upstream (bacterial and mammalian cells) and downstream processing of biologics and is currently employing 12 highly skilled scientists and technicians.
On an annual basis Bioneer serves a large number of Danish and international clients whose assets are future biologic drug candidates, vaccines, ingredient enzymes and other types of proteins. The main responsibilities of the candidate will be to deliver high quality work and to:
- Develop and perform protein purification procedures/downstream process development and deliver either protein product or a process to clients
- Develop analytical methods and perform protein characterization
- Document and report to clients as well as internal assignments
- Participate in technical and business-oriented meetings with clients
- Work on several projects running in parallel
Your place of work will be at Bioneer in DTU Science Park, Hørsholm, Denmark.
The ideal candidate holds a Ph.D. in protein chemistry, biochemistry or related areas. Broad knowledge and hands-on experience with modern protein purification technology and a good understanding of process design/optimisation, preferably with at least post doc level experience or experience from the bio-pharmaceutical industry or related industries.
We use ÄKTA systems for most of our protein purification tasks. Hands-on experience with different methods of such as ion-exchange, hydrophobic interaction chromatography, mixed mode and affinity chromatography is desired.
Experience with some of following would also be advantageous.
- Protein analysis by SEC-UHPLC, reversed phase and other UHPLC based analytical methods
- Capillary electrophoresis, CE-SDS, cIEF
- Tangential flow filtration, diafiltration/ultrafiltration
- Protein refolding
- Enzyme chemistry and enzymology
- Protein formulation development
- Mass photometry
- Biophysical techniques for stability and interaction studies
You are a team player with good overview and have the ability to prioritize when needed.
Preferably you speak Danish and has good writing and oral communication skills in English.
